Tolerance Training: Part Two

The first track to be shared off of Courtship Dances was “Tolerance Training: Part Two” which debuted on XLR8R with these words from Glenn Jackson,

[“Tolerance Training: Part Two”] spends much of its five-minute run coyly shifting shapes from a cavernous dance track, to a more energetic house affair led by active (and even a touch funky) synth sequences and lined with an array of minute rhythmic details. J’ed(ed) / Chyme

The second track to be released from Courtship Dances was “J’ed(ed) / Chyme” which debuted on THUMP from managing editor Jemayel Khawaja who had this to say,

This tune comes out the gate as a raunchy, fidgetty heater and switches up into dystopian ghetto-tech beat now and again – but somewhere around the three minute mark, it devolves into a voided soundscape from which it never returns. The whole thing is an engrossing endeavor…Read the full review

SWAP MEET VOLUME ONE

OUT NOW! The first free release in Wake and Sahy Uhns’ new mixtape series, Swap Meet. What is Swap Meet? Glad you asked.

What do you do to avoid being bored in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, as a passenger on a long car trip, on Saturday morning while you’re waiting for your boyfriend/girlfriend to get out of bed, on the bus, on your lunch break, and while you’re using the bathroom? Sahy Uhns and Wake make beats. These are some of those beats.

Beat Stew: Volume Five

We’re super excited to finally release Volume Five of our Beat Stew mixtape series! Lose yourself in dreamy dance beats and nod your head to the serious future funk. Featuring 10 new tracks from the Proximal crew and 20 more from a crop of seriously talented producers curated by Proximal’s label-head, Sahy Uhns, Beat Stew Volume 5 is our biggest (and we think best) yet. Joined by some familiar names from Beat Stews past like Co.fee, Mat/matix and Solar Shield and a ton of fresh talent like Maggey Pain, Banjax and Gaszia & Xian, we promise this mix will not disappoint.

Beat Stew has always been and will always remain a free mixtape, but we’ve offered it up as a Pay-What-You-Want release through Bandcamp this time because every donation helps an independent label like ourselves and we wanted to give people the option of throwing a couple dollars our way for 30 free tracks. Big thanks to those who have donated already! You can still type in $0 and download for free though and we’ll still love you. Almost as much.
